@Jordandance, if you do manage to get a copy for $5 I'll give you $10 for it...
"Overproduced"? Welcome to the kitchen sink productions world of Northern Soul... "Exuberant" I think I would call it.

Not sure what you mean. "Do I Love You" went for 25,742GBP, whereas the Beatles album went for 19,201GBP.
(Equivalent of - 38,079.08 USA dollars, 28,562.47 euros, 52,285.85 Australian dollars or 3,694,524.21 yen....apparently!)
I thought it was 25,742 in US-currency...
I have to READ before I reply, haha sorry!

The auction took place on John Manship's website - www.raresoulman.co.uk
Not sure if you see the auction if you weren't involved in it from the start.
Pretty sure you had to put down a £2,000 refundable *deposit* to take part. It started on 2 April and once the, er, less serious *players* were had fallen by the wayside the really serious players were given special passwords for a final *closed* auction, which finished on 30 April.
That's my understanding of how it worked. Happy to be corrected, of course.

this way of auctioning sounds to be highly reliable compared to the one of...
what made this record so special instead of all the other claimed orginals that seem widely available on....

There are only 2 original copies. The other went for, I believe, £15,000 a while ago.imet wrote:this way of auctioning sounds to be highly reliable compared to the one of...

Plus Northern Soul fans are a weird bunch who only allow vinyl records to be played at dances so the only chance you will get to hear it at a dance is if one of the 2 guys who own a copy is deejaying... even though it's widely available on CD (and on my i-pod for that matter - going to play it now as there's nobody else around in my office!)

I think 2,000 copies of it were made from one of the original singles, but *released* under a different title (I think) and attributed to a different singer!!!!!! So there are at 2,000 copies of the single out there, just not *original* copies. I'll check full details tonight.Return of Jesco wrote:Plus Northern Soul fans are a weird bunch who only allow vinyl records to be played at dances so the only chance you will get to hear it at a dance is if one of the 2 guys who own a copy is deejaying...

You are probably right 6anbatte, what the Northern guys call "cover-ups" (basically bootlegs with the original title and artist disguised).
