Half Pint Live with Kilimanjaro Sound

simply amaizing, the man's voice ... great
the sad thing about it all is that he wasn't up on stage that long, an hour or so, way too short but hey it was great, he came on stage and took over massive by starting out with "Greetings" if you think this tune sounds wicked then hear it live ... killer tune

another sad thing was the sound that was spinning the dubplates, Kilimanjaro Sound, they took over the hall when Half Pint was done ... did not like it at all! a toaster that just keept on screaming like he rather wanted too be a singer in a heavy metal band, 5 sec of a good tune - wheel - SHOUTING - 5 sec of other tune - repeating the same all over - ...
I have no doubts about that system, they know haw to take over the dance but all that screaming and 5 sec of a good tune ... the misses and i go out to dance and with this kind of systems ... there is no dancing to be done

So to all Sound System, keep it coming but let those tunes spin a bit longer

That's nice! But i think that's too short an analysis. Can't it be abit long and descriptive. Kilimanjaro of course was a killer sound, but that bit of a dubplate running for 5 secs is real. I have also experienced it. Sounds have that habit of playing nice plates for short durations yet they have plenty of them. Floods of them at that. This habit has simply got to stop! Dubplates are not like 45's. Dubplates are the sound's exclusive tracks. Consequently, it is only fair they let us listen to them for a while. If not so, where else can we listen to a dubplate? Otherwise its nice to hear and see sounds do their thing. Its good to see 'Musical Murder' during sound klashes. All the best. Lastly, may i request you one thing. Would you please tell inner details of Kilimanjaro Sounds? Dj's, mc's, major events, artists affiliated to the sound, so on and so forth. Your reply would be very much appreciated.

a "toaster?" I thought no one said that anymore except Battlestar Galactica fans!:)Anyway, don't hold it against Jaro, that pretty much been the way of things for decades now.

I agree, though, I don't always get the appeal. I watched last year's sting with Movado and Vybz Kartel battling. I couldn't tell how anyone knew who won since neither of them ever got in more than one line before stopping. Kinda lame really. It was like a dub fi dub clash, where they just introduced the lyric. But what about actually showing that you can dj for a long period and freestyle, etc. That seems to be lost these days. Though I loved how Ninjaman came out after and sort of casually killed both of them (that's my opinion, of course, but Ninja's always been and remains dangerous in a battle, and genius freestyler)

Are you kidding? SL was the sound that popularized playing 30 seconds of a track, and then beat-mixing into another track. Things have gone downhill ever since....

If the tune is good enough to play at all, it's good enough to play all the way through.

Lots of people like SL and the beat matching/mixing, including me, and there are lots of good dancehall tunes where the lyrics just repeat after the first half of the song, so, no, I don't agree about playing all the way through, and I like hearing what different people do with a riddim. Stone Love was a good development, I think. It's just different, not worse. It was a logical step in the direction of hip hop, though I do think that direction has now gone too far in dancehall. Dancehall is a young persons' music; maybe we all jump off the boat at different points based on our age! I really dislike most of the dancehall I've heard in the last few years; maybe I'll be in the next generation of dancehall naysayers!

If you listen to Half Pint close his voice seem flat and not have a hole heap a tone to it, still he sound wicked on some tracks but other tracks nah ramp.
