Sorry for resurrecting an old thread - but I didn't even know that there *was* an African Dub 5!Davve wrote:Vol 4 is all Joe Gibbs & the Professionals: State of Emergency, Majestic Dub, Rockers Carnival & African Dub chapter 5.

Re: Greensleeves Evolution of Dub series
I'm glad you brought this thread back to life, Funky Punk.
I've been looking for good feedback about this series for the last couple days. I'm undecided, because I have 3 of the 4 albums on Vol. 1 already, I don't know anything about the albums on volume 2 except for Sledgehammer Dub, and I don't know anything about the albums on Vol. 3!
I put more stock in the opinions I read on this site than most, so I'm thankful for any comments on these sets.

Re: Greensleeves Evolution of Dub series
I've only got volume 1 myself so far.
Joe Gibbs' Dub Serial is quite similar to African Dub 1 and I've been playing it nearly every day since I got the set.
The (excellent) Tubby stuff I'd already mostly heard before on other compilations (most of the tracks from the two albums are on that 'Father of Dub' box set) but they've done a good job with the mastering here.
Haven't listened to 'Dubbing With The Observer' yet.

Re: Greensleeves Evolution of Dub series
Here's my complaint about Volume 2. Yes, the copy of Rasta Dub 76 they used was not very clean, but I can live with that. My complaint is why did they substitute the vocal version (extended) of Cornel Campbell's Two Faced Rasta for the dub that was on the original? The dub on this extended mix is different. It throws off the record in my opinion.

You should email them and ask. It might be one of those first pressing screwups that happen from time to time (but shouldn't!). If you're lucky (and they give a damn), they might already be doing something about it and will be prepared to send you a replacement CD when one is available.mghifi wrote:Here's my complaint about Volume 2. Or I guess it could be the case that they were sent the wrong master tapes, or that the vinyl they mastered it from included that version instead of the one on your copy (it's not unheard of for different vinyl pressings to have different content/tracks in a different order/etc.).
