Scientist's shirt

Maybe I'm just not a fashion-conscious person (as I type this, I'm wearing a Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers T-shirt and a pair of nylon football shorts) - but to me, the shirt/pants combo as modelled by the good Mr. Scientist looks rather like the sort of shirt/pants combo that your typical 'man in the street' in the UK might wear in the summer.

It actually looks like the sort of thing that my dad wears around the house.

It might be a different story where some of you are based - but here, you should be able to pick up something similar to that in any high street menswear shop (such as BHS).

The neck and button area are pretty different from most shirts I've seen, I don't exactly follow fashion but that shirt draws my eyes.

Ha Ha L.A.M.F and football shorts, bold of you to come clean. as i wear my home made Jah Shaka T shirt.

you know, i find these types of shirts around at second hand shops and swap meets. there were alot of American companies from the 70's that made these types of shirts.
just keep looking around or if you are an ebay person check that option out.

Hey "Punky" where do you live?
I dont know too many people who know about Thunders and also Roots music...

well ive been looking for this style of street wear popular amongst black youths in the mid 70s also...i really feel theres a market for it and if anyone can point me in the direction of outlets...also a list of the clothes worn..trousers, shoes, tops, etc from peoples on here that actually used to wear them would be good...

I found this Banana Rebublic shirt, and it's definitely the closest you'll ever get.

Dunno bout the shirt, but it's one of the better Scientist Lps, It's meant to be a rarity, I own a copy... so it can't be rare;-)
I also like Scientists Crucial Cuts (no relation tot he label) on Kingdom Sounds, mainly Dubs to Roy Cousins productions.

P.s. Just how many of us were wearing Clarke's booties in the 70s and 80s? I never did have a Knits Ganzie though ....
