What do you guys think of the punk-reggae hybrid played by bands such as The Clash, The Slits, etc.?

Unlike the 'pop music with reggae elements' as played by wankers like Sting, this seemed like more of an attempt to create a (different) British reggae sound...

I don't really get on with it, the worst band for this I can recall seeing and the sound I least liked were Culture Shock, previously the Subhumans.
