The song is "Hard Times" by the 7th Extension band. It came out in 1981 on the Zodiac label. Wicked DJ cut to it as well by Ranking Devon, "All Nations Have To Bow".

I downloaded Ranking Devon's "All Nations..." and "Hard Times" both from ROOTS AND CULTURE UNITE on Amazon. It says "Hard Times" is by Derrick Lara. Is that the same as the 7th Extension band version?Dave K wrote:The song is "Hard Times" by the 7th Extension band. It came out in 1981 on the Zodiac label. Yes, same one. Derrick Lara was the lead singer of the 7th Extension Band.

Great great song with even better deejayversion. I've got it on 12" released on the canadian D Music label (any info on that label, Dave?) that also released one of my favourite LP's - Rock with Papa Madoo!
