Johnny Clarke has a few "battle" tunes "Im the Toughest" and the sublime "Don't Trouble Trouble" which is, I believe, also aimed at Jacob Miller

jacob miller would lose any contest except possibly who could force the most food down their overly ample waistline.

no way is or was jacob miller even in a class with johnny clarke.

Anyone here willing to wager that Clarke and Miller were actually friends in Real Life? ;)

I prefer JC myself - but Miller had some excellent choons. 'Tenement Yard' and 'Roman Soldiers of Babylon' are a couple of my all-time favourites, to pick just two.

I remember the remarkable cover versions:

-None shall escape the judgement-Jacob Miller
-Babylon Yard(Tenement Yard version)-Johnny Clarke

What about this songs?

I've only heard the version with Dillinger toasting over Clarke's 'Babylon Yard'. What album/compilation is the original on, do you know?

Robert Nesta Marley - Iron Lion Zion

Peter Tosh - Can't Go A Zion
(I've read somewhere that Tosh directed this tune to Marley rite after they split up)

---------------------------

Morgan Heritage - Don't Haffi Dread To Be Rasta

Black Uhuru - Haffi Dread To Be Rasta (Andrew Bees/2010 Album)
(don't know which one came out first)

song called "Lion" from the equal rights album

lyrics:

You talkin' about lion, iron, but you can't go to zion
Talkin' about lion, iron, but you far from zion

I only hear you words
But I don't see no works
You think my father's a fool
You never get away
No matter what you say
Cause you have broken my father's rule

And then you come around, lion, iron, but you can't go to zion
Talkin' 'bout lion, iron, but you far from zion
Knots on your head
Talkin' 'bout you dread
And you believe, that is all

Long hair on your face
And your works is disgrace
You and the wicked them must fall

and so on
----------------------------

could also be a tune to the hippies and fake ras ta. similar to the Johnny Clarke tune where him laugh bout syrian & chiney have dreadlocks
but me no really sure
