Track on the Pick Up The Pieces riddim

Post by digitalJ »

I'm looking for a track on the Pick Up The Pieces riddim. The DJ on it could be Ranking Toyan, Ranking Trevor or perhaps Papa Tullo(not sure who, but its a DJ).
The version of the Pick Up The Pieces riddim used on the track has a fast tempo
Well Charge

Jah Guide I / Little John 12" has Toyan on the dj part

Come Along / Maytones, there was a dj version by Lone Ranger called "Jamaican Collie". The tempo is quite fast on this one.

Thanks Well Charge. I have the ones you mentioned and they aren't the track I'm after.
The version I'm looking for is pretty hard. One thing I know is that it came off an LP, not a 7 inch...if that may help IDing it

not LP but the 12 of It's a Good Day by Pat Kelly has a heavy Sly & Robbie take on this riddim, then Ranking Trevor comes in with One Man Ranch. On one of the Ossie labels.

Thanks vtov, it's not the Ranking Trevor's One Man Ranch.Looks like my fate for the weekend is now sealed :).
I think I'm gonna have to spend the whole weekend going through all my tunes until I find it :)

Thanks Selecta, been there. I picked up that both algoriddim.com and reggaeid.co.uk listed Toyan's Nice It Up (produced by Jah Thomas on the Midnight Rock label) as being on the Pick Up The Pieces riddim...which is doubtful, because the track is on the the Linval Thompson's Six Babylon riddim...unless Midnight releases some other rare Toyan track on that riddim, but with the same title.

Anyway, thanks.I will let you know when I eventually find it.

Pretty sure the confusion has occurred because The Royals Studio One cut of **["Pick Up the Pieces"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1 ... ight=60400)** is on a completely different riddim to their Magnum/Ballistic cut of **["Pick Up The Pieces"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2 ... ight=30997)**

Same title, same (similar) lyrics, but different riddim.

Just listened to "Six Babylon" alongside the later Magnum/Ballistic cut of "Pick Up The Pieces" (and the dub cut "Llongo") and they both have either exactly the same or a very, very similar bass line.

So there you go.
Studio One cut of "Pick..." is THE riddim, *BUT* the Magnum/Ballistic "Pick..." is on the "Six Babylon" riddim (or slight variation of). Hope that has helped.

OK, so it hasn't answered the original question. :)

Wow...very interesting. I always assumed the all versions of the Pick Up The Pieces riddim were descendants of the "original" riddim [I'm no longer sure whether or not I should even call it original :)] used by the Royals' Studio One cut.
