Lee Perry Rocksteady

Post by AnorakTrev »

I realise this is out of Roots Archives timeframe but...

Are there any other additions to this list of crucial " pure " rocksteady Perry tunes ?

Run For Cover
Something You Got
Set Them Free
Wind Up Doll
Whup Wop Man

Edit to post to include the word " pure " !

Pussy Galore - Lee Perry & The Wailers (Coxsone)

Recorded in 1966, so this one could be Rocksteady or at least very close to it.

I think this may be his complete 1966 to early 1968 recorded songs that has been released:

Rub And Squeeze
Pussy Galore (2 versions)
Doctor Dick
Give Me Justice
Such A Good Woodman (aka The Woodman)
Give It To Me (never heard this...)
Call On Me (...or this)
with Prince Buster: Judge Dread/Johnny Cool/Ghost Dance
Run For Cover
Something You Got
Wind Up Doll
Whup Whup Man
Set Them Free
Don´t Blame The Children
The Upsetter
Thank You Baby
Kimble
How Come
You Were Meant For Me (aka CN Express 2)
Hey Mama

Feel free to correct me if I´m wrong!
Also, is Give It To Me/Call On Me available anywhere?

Well , I didn`t expect this response (tu) . Thanks , you folks . More ??

One more from me . " Run Rudie Run " - Lee " King " Perry And The Gaylads , just about out of ska , but with a hint of the upcoming rocksteady beat .
