Version Girl

Post by Mr Zwane »

Ites

On UB40's version girl, the Dj' quotes of refers to a few icons of Reggae but i can only pick up few such as URoy , Dennis Brown (and that still stands for correction).

Please assist if you can pick up any more names
Thank you

Boy Friday toasts the original version I think Astro of UB40 toasts the exact same lines. Off the top of my head I know that Bunny Lee and James Brown are mentioned..."take to the bridge, as James Brown would say"

This is what I got, from the Boy Friday version, not sure about some parts, thus the??? Feel free to add & critique:

Version with discursion from the top of the backing track mmm.

As Bunny Lee the Aggro-man would say, 'hit me back for days and extra days'

Al Laurence??? would say, 'ooh boo ska boo'

Harry J, 'Young, Gifted and Black' ahh. It's very sad. All right. Take five mmm girl.

Version girl

Like the morning sun, so you've had your fun

Its so hard to find a personality with charms

Ooh wee, ooh wee

U-roy would say, bow wow wow wow ahh

Whats your name, it Mary, Sue, or Elaine?

Its so hard to find a personality with charms like yours for me, all right

Take it to the middle, take to middle, take it to the bridge, take it to the bridge as James Brown would say all right, mmm-mm bridge

Waiting while my shoes for you get worn out

Would be satisfied

Prince Buster would say 'big five??? I feel like it tonight'

Mmm, yeah, you're so sexy, you're so nice, you make me feel alright, oh version girl!

The Pioneers would say, 'Starvation to the nation', all right

The Maytals, 'Peeping Tom all about the farm, farm'

Bunny Lee, my man, you came to see the Aggro-man is here, roo boo ska boo, Laurence on the sight, make you feel all right,

Like the morning sun, you come and go
