I wonder how much different Jamaican pressings of the two Marley / Perry LPs, "Soul Rebels" & "Soul Revolution Part II", exist.
I've got these two sets but I'm quite sure there are various pressings. I wonder if ther are some differences between all this pressings.
For the "Soul Rebels" I have this one:
http://www.roots-archives.com/display_artwork/5249.jpg
Mine has a lighter blue printing and a thick cardboard Jamaican printed cover. The matrix (TBL + 126 - A // TBL - 126 + B) is hand written. Last, "My Sympathy" is replaced by a version of "400 years".
I was told the original one has a UK cover and stamped matrix. Don't know if "My Sympathy" is replaced by 400 Years version. The label also seems to be different. Same design but with green or red color for "Upsetter" and black colour for tracklist and all infos.
The Soul Revolution set is on Maroon. The same as the one listed here. http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2449
Matrix is TTL 66 A & TTL 66 B (or TTL 65 B with a 6 scratched over a 5 for the B side).
I saw some copies of this disc on Upsetter, and I was told that there are several matrix numbers (also for the Maroon press). Actualy there are plenty of diff kind/colours of Upsetter label. I'm quite sure among these there is the pressing with the version of Soul Rebels LP. The LP was also given several differents names on label among which:
Soul Revolution Part 2
Soul Revolution Part II
Upsetter Revelusion (sic) Rhythm
Would be grate if some people can compare with the copies they have.

Basically, TTL are Trojan matrixes...
But it was not rare in the early 70s to have the stampers made in UK and then brought over to Jamaica...

Re: Wailers & Perry LPs
bob marley & the wailers recorded only two lp´s with lee perry that was soul rebel (1970) and soul revolution (1971)in jamaica. there are the same lp´s with extra tracks and different songs titled rasta revolution and african herbsman because of lee perry sell rights in the u.k. at that time. That was one of the many reasons that the wailers end relationship with perry. bob marley and lee perry has a long singles collection between 1969 and 1971. "rainbow country" is one of my favourite songs of that period and bob rescue part of the lyrics in "roots rock reggae" for the rastaman vibration l.p.

Rainbow Country (aka Highway Riding) and the first version of Natural Mystic was recorded by Bob with Lee Perry at the Black Ark in 1975.
Likewise Turn Me Loose and Keep On Skanking in 1974.
