Junior Delgado Tribute

Post by Jackie Pablo »

I have just heard the dreadful news that Junior Delgado is dead. Junior's death has come as a great shock. Junior was an amazing singer who has left us with many great songs to remember him by. The following are just some of his great singles that everyone should have (or hear).

23rd Psalm - Juks Dread & Big Youth [Junior Delgado & Big Youth] (Black Art)
A Tition (Incredible Music)
Famine (Incredible Music)
Storm Is Coming (Incredible Music)
Trouble (Incredible Music)
Fort Augustus (Taxi)
Merry Go Round (Taxi)
We A Blood (Fashion)
Sons Of Slaves (Upsetters)
Raggamuffin Year (Message)
Reaction (Ethnic Fight)
Riot In The Juvenile Prison (Message)
Youth Attack (Rockers International)
Ransom Of A Man's Life - Yami Bolo produced by Junior Delgado

Does anyone know what caused his death?

Fact is that in 1999 he again released an excellent album called "Reasons". This was one of the better roots albums from the late nineties. A masterpiece. He proved that he was able to continue releasing high quality material, through the decades. Too bad that this has to come to an end.

More sad news. Junior was one of the biggest and most distinctive voices in Reggae. A huge loss.

Real bad, mon, one of the most distinctive singers gone. Be it roots or lovers, almost everything he did had a sure fine quality, even the later records of the 90s.
Good to know that he began reissuing his own catalogue in the last years, so everybody not so familiar can get hold of his own classic albums like 'Effort', 'Dance A Dub' (a classic dub in its own right), 'Taste of a young heart' or 'More she love it'. All are highly recommended to all latecomers.
