in the early and mid 80s i used to watch a tv station that had a couple of hours a week (or was it daily? i don't know, those were fuzzy times for me) that played nothing but reggae music videos.
it came out of either new jersey or nyc. it was a uhf channel.
i have been trying to find info about it but i am at a loss.
does anyone know or remember this??
thanks

Yes, indeed, super ape!
Here in the states there was a cable channel, USA channel, that had a program entitled Night Flight. Every Friday and/or Saturday night, they would show an hour's worth of reggae videos. Night Flight ran from 1981 -1988, and the videos were usually of the Big Youth, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Black Uhuru, and Reggae Sunsplash vein. It was pretty cool and helped I & I get 'into' reggae music in those days...
Not sure if this is the show you are referring to, but wanted to share nonetheless...
Niceness!

rastaguy,
i think that might be it!!!!
i didn't have cable tv then, i had a little black n white tv with rabbit ears. but i turned the channel to "u" (or was that zero?) and i got to watch the show. it was lots of black uhuru, tosh, toasters, etc...just like you say...and that name sounds familiar....so that must be it. thank you!

You may be thinking of U68 out of Newark. They had much cooler vids than MTV and used to show a fair number of reggae vids if memory serves.

Night Flight was not reggae only, though they did show some I believe. Doesn't sound like what Super Ape is remembering.

it wasnt night flight, it was definitely u68...they had a reggae-soecific program that i loved, i watched it through the snowstorm of bad reception on my tiny black n white tv. it was awesome.
