at some times man of talent dont want to believe that the aim is work, they wait for their ghost to separate from body, they forget that this test we go through is ALL about beeing WITHIN your body. thats the reason Jah give us body to work wid. Sometimes the man of talent feels alone and gwan vex with the little people. but the reason Jah put de lunatics on earth IS to teach the people and not to confuse dem and hide. scratch is a fallen angel.

Dubsetter still seems to be out only in japan - pity. Promises are that it will appear on CD in the UK and hopefully on ON-U download store. As someone said, ON-U famous for tantalising promises that take ages - but usually worth it! What I have heard of Dubsetter stands the test. Some great tracks on Mighty Upsetter, worth checking out. Loving 'Everything Start From Scratch' (Congoman Chant basically).

Sad but true: Black Ark years are over now. And so is his enlighted era.

Rumours, speculation, jealousy, people messing with him and ripping him off is enough to make him want to distance himself from all those fuckwits....
no wonder he has acted like he has for the last 30 years , I would too !
I am just as tired of arseholes who just want to screw you.
If I had just a fraction of his talent I would do the same.
I say MORE POWER to the man !

In 1966 Lee Perry recorded 'Rub And Squeeze' with the Soulettes, in 1973 are from 'Pussy Cat' by Lloyd Charmers (under the guise of Lloydie & The Lowbites) and Leo Graham, whose 'Want A Wine' was produced by him. The less than innocent Mr. Lee 'Scratch' Perry can be heard on the ultra-rare 'Want A Grine', alongside the ubiquitous Fay Bennett, who, by way of proving that the term 'slackness' was well established back in the early seventies, is credited as Melinda 'Slack'. The producer also recruited the Silvertones for the sweet 'Dub Your Pum Pum' and he has demonstrated a freethinking attitude to the celebrated act. Big Cockey Wally is from 1976.

Don't forget "Big Pussy Sally" which was before "Big Cockey Wally".

Re: What the hell has happened to Lee "Scratch" Perry???
Hi all,
I saw Lee Perry (with Adrian Sherwood at the mix) yesterday evening in Grenoble, France.
Before that, I had seen Lee Perry twice on stage, once in the 90's, and once in 2005 or 2006 (this latter time he was with the White Belly Rats, for the "Panic In Babylon" Tour).
While I had been pretty positively impressed by these 2 concerts, what could I say from his yesterday's performance? Well... that he should just stop performing live...
What he now does discredits him more than it can give him credit. That's a real pity to see this great man so diminished, so bored and un-creative - after so many years of innovation!
What I will remember from this concert is neither Lee Perry nor Adrian Sherwood (by the way), but the younger Sir Jean & The Mighty Cut (http://www.myspace.com/sirjeanandmightycut), who did a really excellent concert before the "elders"!
Cheers, MadC.
