Hi bredrens...
Im a nostalgic of the golden era (70's-early 80's) and 99,9% of my listening time is dedicated to those years... but I dont spit on the "modern" stuff, its just that usually, I dont like it.
Still, there are a few of those post '85 tunes that I have really enjoyed, usually especially for the vocal quality and I would like a tread to share knowledge about those modern tunes that might hit 70's lovers...
I will list a few of the modern stuff that caught my attention.... please post yours.
Johnny Osbourne - Black Star Liner 7"
Christel - Government Man 7"
Joseph Hills - Police Man 7"
Johnny Osbourne - Hotta Wata Fyah 7"
Fish Goat and Sufferah with the Versatiles - Creations 12"
Junior Delgado - Poverty 12"
Julian Marley - Systems 7"
Eric Donaldson - Rocky Road 7"
Shalom - We been troddin' 10"

Nice to see *the Shades* in your list!
I like some late Shaka stuff too... got Africa by Twinkles... Couldnt find a clip of the push harder... and neither the last...
Danny Red has truly a nice voice... and the Matthew tune is fresh!

Re: Modern Stuff for 70's Nostalgics...
Yess! i recived both the shades 7'' few days ago and i realy can't stop listening to them. ROOOTS!
The Twinkle tune Africa is killer , the B side has an incredible bassline...but also the tune Rasta Deh Yah give me a lot of energy! Also many rare Shaka vocals are excelent!
The Push Harder tune is the 7'' with the stroger militant bassline of my selection...the bassline realy push harder!! On Ire Hi Fi label from Germany!
Also the B side of Be Carefull is good...
Will check all the oHan's tune as i don't know dem :S
Anyway i like also some Barry Isaacs 12'' expecialy in the first he did , Tear Down babylon by Aba is a real anthem...
But as a real nostalgic of the 70's music...i can't compare nothing of this with some serious 70's , early 80's Jamaican , NY & Uk tunes...still waiting something that reach the level.
p.s. hey don't tell around of my new dubstep passion!!! lol

It may sound silly but in general i like the new reggae stuff with lyrics i don't understand. I like many of the french, spanish and african reggae bands. Sometimes i wonder that it is better not to understand the lyrics, cause they might be terrible.
But to come back to the question. I love all (or most of) the work of Israel Vibration till apple left. To name albums like Forever, On the Rock or Strength of my Life. There are some absolutly killer tunes on it!

Re: Modern Stuff for 70's Nostalgics...
jahlionyouth, for me its far too much *dancehall* what you suggest. Im not saying its bad or weak or anything, but for me it has no more relation with roots music as I consider it, vocally and musically (digitally
).
Not easy to find clips of your listed stuff, Han... apprently its already priced!
Ive ordered the *Shades* too, finally! Was not so hot compared to "Jah Irror" at first but must say its great.
A few I forgot:
I&I Oneness - Further (Jah Works 7" not digital)
Pupa Jim - Business Of War (2009)
Prince Alla - Spiritual I
some of the Martin Campbell stuff is really great.

Re: Modern Stuff for 70's Nostalgics...
None has reached the summit of the best 70's for me... and I dont really expect it could happen... But some interesting stuff has emerged scattered here and there...formula wrote:very very few the post '85 tunes that can be compared to golden era stuff...
Thanks *formula* for recalling that Augustus Pablo / ROCKERS did some wicked stuff too... Ill check your list later... going to work now... but I add...
Icho Candy - Babylon (Rockers 7")
Ras Angels - Babylon Burning (Rockers 7")
