Re: Dambala & Mr Jimmny Lindsay
Hi, yes, this is correct Jimmy did release "Easy" which went into the british charts, but, this was recorded in Jamaica and Dambala was not involved with this release...after the success of this release, he (Jimmy)needed a group to back him and it was this function that Dambala performed...

Am I also right in thinking Horace had a girlfriend called Barbara around this time who was in the chorus?

Re: Dambala & Mr Jimmy Lindsay
Not to my knowledge, the only time we used a female singer was in conjunction with the Jimmy Lindsay release "Ain't No Sunshine" and I recall her being a friend of Gus Anyia. Horace may well have had a girlfriend named Barbara, but she did not sing on any original Dambala releases. Gus Anyia used a female vocalist on his Rally Round and Azania releases after the other 5 members had left the band.

Yes this discography is pretty thorough, but there is one release missing, we did the theme music for a Channel 4 series on black people in Britian called "Black British" or "Black on Black" or something like it the single was released around the same time (I can't remember who released it now, but it wasn't on the bands own label Isis...)The band was also filmed during the opening credits, I have not been able to trace this single or any information regarding the series, I do know that it ran (the series) for at least 6 weeks in 79 (I think)

Hi Fadel,
I have recently tried to send you and .mp3 of a Dambala track, but your service provider refused to accept the message and it was returned, so unless you provider changes their minds there is nothing I can do to help you, you will have to find an alternative source as I am not prepared to spend time effort and money on sending out CD's...sorry

Re: Dambala
Nice thread guys, reminds me of the talisman thread a few weeks back!
I just did a post asking about Dambala the other day and someone directed me to this thread, nice to see u here alvin.
I do have the Azania album on MP3 if u don't have it alvin can upload it to u if u need a copy, just let me know. That article posted by fadel was also interesting, a nice little find!
I'd love to get a copy of the other album the one before azania if anyone wants to trade for azania?mp3.
Alvin u mentioned that a friend of gus was called Anyia, does her name have any link with the album name Azania i wonder? sounds similar! would be nice to know what azania means?
Pete
