Tappa Zukie - Musical Intimidator

Post by cks »

this Trojan comp is 5 years old now so i might be too late to ask, but I've got a problem with track 4 on mine: allegedly 'Judge I Oh Lord' (not to be confused with 'Oh Lord'. It doesn't sound like Zukie or any reggae from that era, certainly not 1974 as listed. It's got a late 80's/90's digital sound to my ears.

It might be a Trojan mis-pressing of a random track, or i might be losing it. Bit of an obscure question, but i figured this is the right place: anyone else had this problem or can shed any light on it?

cheers!

Hello,

My copy got the same song. Definitely digital style and not '74. It is Zukie imo. The singer is Johnny Osbourne. Totally out of place on this compilation.

This is the original single they 'mixed up' at Trojan.

Itself being the version to 'Jah Jah Jahovah' by Max Romeo & Ronnie Davis, 7" on Micron from 1975.

The remade track is from 1993 or so and features the vocals of Johnny Osbourne like Bassi mentioned.
rougher yet

If Tapper ever performed the remade version live, you can just imagine him holding out the mic to the crowd for them to sing along to the 'You-Yabby-Yabby-You' bits, can't you?
