According Dancehallstyle.com he recorded "Jamaica" b/w "Si tu m'appelles", released as a 7 inch by Ariola/Arabella (1980).
Recorded at Joe Gibbs Studio
Engineer : Errol Thompson
Jamaica backing : Sly & Robbie, Ansel Collins, Dougie, Bingy Bunny, Franklyn Waul, Bongo Herman & Sticky, Dean Fraser
Si Tu M'Appelles backing : Horsemouth & Ranchie, Winston Wright, Franklyn Waul, Bingy Bunny, Sticky, Stephen Stewart

Classic roots reggae with a little pop touch. Aimé Monpierre has a little souful voice.
BTW "Si tu m'appelles... je serai là" means "if you call me... I'll be there".

A 12 inch? You're sure? It was credited as a 7 inch!
Maybe i'm wrong, but check http://www.dancehallstyle.com/french/ow ... -back.html and it looks like a 7 inch

This saw release both as a 7 inch and a 12 inches.
The 12 has both cuts as extended mixes, really great roots but the "Jamaica" side is ruined (as usual) by the horrible sax of Dean Fraser...
The lyrics meaning is a bit weak tho... but it's a nice "atypical" record !
"Si tu m'apelles" has a great riddim with a heavy intro.

yes it exists on a 12" with pic sleeve, I have it, same front and back cover
I deeeeply agree for the "horrible sax of D Fraser" though it's not the worse tune he has made (ça dégouline as usual

Hi Ton1, of course it's not Fraser worst tune... I have a friend who has the "Bamba" theme in reggae with Fraser over it, that's probably his worst tune !
This man is a great player but I really can't stand the sound coming from his sax... The only thing I highly rate from him is the magnificent "Big Up" LP.
