Nice Up The Dance

Post by Rootsman »

Just a quick question, what is this CD like?

[cover=408,498]

I know all the tracks but was wondering what the mixes are like on this CD.

Do they have any of those annoying 80`s syndrum overdubs are are they straight extended mixes of the original versions

Thanks

From memory;

There are no annoying 1980s syndrum overdubs.

It's mostly welded together from A- and B-sides (especially where the source material pre-dates Extended Discomixes).

But Slogan On The Wall was 'specially mixed' by the label owner for the CD's release. Again I don't recall overdubs but this very long track was pieced together from four separate shorter recordings.

Hi Dave

Must admit I have this album and rarely play it.

Thanks for those comments Version Control, most helpful.

Thanks for your comments to Simon, pity I cannot say the same about yours :D lol..

Simon, is that because you don`t like it or just that you buy so much music you only get to play them once ;)

LOL. It was my polite way of saying that I didn't think much of it! :)

NO it does NOT have any of that 80's stuff ... thankfully. But, it's not that bad, really, I primarily enjoy these 3 tracks [in order] from this CD:

1. Give Love a Try

2. Can I Change My Mind

3. Queen of the Minstrel

Alton's track is mega-long though ... 10+ minutes I think. As others have mentioned, I can't speak to whether they are indeed "straight extended mixes of the original versions". But, overall I can say I've enjoyed listening to it.

Peace.

check this review by the real specialists - in short, as I understand it, a kinda must have for the collector of Studio One 12" singles.
