Natural Mystic Melodica Style

Post by I-Lion Tafari »

Ites !
You all know Natural Mystic by Bob Marley & The Wailers.

There is a version (not played by the Wailers)with a heavy melodica lead melody on it. Can you imagine how massive this was??

I`m looking for this tune!!

Who knows the artist who did it? The song was part of a Monty Alexander documentary on arte. But I don`t think it`s Monty who plays, although his "hobby" is the melodica and his "main job" is the piano.

Can someone please help me??

Thanks , itection and guidance,
nuff greetings,
Lion

Monty Alexander recorded two albums with Marley material, "Stir it Up" from 1999 and "Concrete Jungle" from 2005, both on Telarc label available.

I think this one appeared as a Daddy Kool 12" in the 80's. A marley tune on A side and this melodica cut to Natural Mystic credited to Pablo on B side.

Don't have it but I have a scarce and killer cut to Natural Mystic on another Daddy Kool 12". This one has a dub on flip which might be the one used for the melodica cut. This Bob version to Natural Mystic on A side is the previously unreleased Perry cut with horns and hand drum. 1000 miles head the Island cut IMO.

I have a daddy kool 12" of Bob Marley's "Rainbow Country", with pablo on melodica on the b-side. But this a cut to "Java" if i'm correct.

Are we talking about the same 12" ?

You maybe confusing the Rainbow Country 12", which had Pablo's Lama Lava (a version of Java) on the flip.

Rainbow Country/Dub/Lama Lava - Daddy Kool 12" DK12-101

Natural Mystic/Dub - Daddy Kool 12" DK12-102

Perry cut of Natural Mystic 1000 miles head the Island cut... Well personnaly Im absolutely not a fan of the Exodus-Kaya recordings (recorded as one in 77 and released in two times for KAya and Exodus) but I find those 75-78 recordings with Perry even worst ...
Who colt the game, Hurting Inside (2nd version), I know a place & Natural Mystic (1st version) are really poor in my opinion and I really prefer the Island cut of Natural Mystic.
Anyway its simply personnal
