70's UK Dub recommendations needed.

Post by Musitronics »

Can anyone recommend any early UK Dub artists from around the 70's? I'm trying to put together a CD for an old friend who is very much a Dub/Ska/Roots "Officianado" I've been having trouble putting a selection together for him for exactly that reason, so far I have managed to acquire a copy of one record that fit's the bill - Black Jade's "Contempo" LP, it has a very reagal/minimal UK sound, that is very authenticity 70's "Dub" not Digi Dub or root's, I've chosen three tracks off of this Album so far, but can find no other similar style artists.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thankyou all for these great recommendations, like a lot of these guy's, though I know my friend will likely have all the Shaka and On-u Sound as he use to work for them lol, that's partly why this CD is such a tough one to put together bless him.

Here is one track from the Contempo LP, The CD needs about another 20 tracks, what would you recommend if I can't find enough early UK Dub and which of the above would be the closest sounding to > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIz6TFyUt38

Thanks.
