I'd really have to say that Super Ape is perhaps the best and the deepest roots album of all time.
Personally, I've never quite seen it as a dub album, even though Barrow & co. seem to think otherwise (Rough Guide To Reggae). The majority of tracks includes vocals, despite they mighy be hauntingly mixed, and even the dub tunes carry a strongly spiritual ROOTS feeling.
So I & I don't care whe dem seh, I & I haffi see Super Ape as de fittest roots album fi true!

i would like to add in my opinion that "1976" is the peak of the golden era of roots. The center spiral. All roots after this time(until 85' or so), branched off of 76' and is the result of this break through year....

A very good year indeed.
I would like to point out the excellent debut set from from The Meditations "Message from the Meditations". Pure killer!
According to the roots-archives, this album was released in 1978. But as I recall it was released in 1976.
