poor guy who paid 300 for that... Seen it being sold for less than 50 dollar a couple of times (original 70s press, not the Abraham or clocktower pressing)..

No dime store theory offered, just that the thread was about "regrets". Most posted about songs they learned to like after getting rid of them, and wished they hadn't.
I was just pointing out that there is usually more sympathy for someone who has lost something they once loved, or learned to love after parting with it, then from someone who didn't get to maximize profit potential. No personal offence intended from my post, nor received from yours.

There is someone in my town that reads the obituaries for what might be Jamaican names. He then calls the widow to ask if he can "help out" in getting the husband's records. After buying them for pennies, he turns around and sells them on e-bay. After ripping off many, they ban him, and he comes back for more under a different name. This is the kind of crap I hate. Not accusing you of that, but that's the kind of thing that happens when profit becomes your motive. Love is lovely, and money's kind of ugly.

If I didn't know that you're the kind of person that wouldn't make up such a thing I would never have believed a story like this. It's just incredible what some people do.

Nothing new about that.. Same happened in our family back in the mid 80s.. No reggae records, but a collection of rare jazz records and and a very large set of acetate test pressings and tapes going back as far as the 1920s (some only contained the voices of long gone relatives... )

gone within 2 or 3 days... we have never seen any of that stuff ever since..

It´s a pity I will never be able to hear my great grandfather talk about life in the 19th century..

It happend to many times that I regret a record... But I buy for more than I can afford and so have to part with some records... When I have a little bit of dunza, I try to refind them... its usually possible... except the few I really regret.

My biggest regret is selling my copy of "Augustus Thomas - Jah Jah Warn Them" 12".... At least its a friend that has it now. But what a wicked tune.
