Hey Guys / Girls
Can anyone post up a few recommendations for albums on this label.
Don`t know too much about the works of Adrian Sherwood but am curious to learn more.
I have a few of the Creatiob Rebel albums but that is about as far as my knowledge goes.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thanks
Dave

And there`s more!
Dub Syndicate:Strike The Balance
Dub Syndicate:Stoned Immaculate (Prince Far-I on Vocals )
Most of the On-U-Sound stuff is excellent imo, heavy on the mixing desk skills of Adrian Sherwood and the group of talented musicians surrounding him, including Skip McDonald/David Harrow/Bingy Bunny/Errol Holt/Bongo Iyabinghi Noah (who is also involved with African Head Charge).

Re: On u Sound
...don't forget **singers & players' staggering heights**, with vocals from **prince far i, mikey dread and bim sherman**...a deep on u sound production... more experimental then is **missing brazilians' warzone**, more a trippy musical voyage than reggae album, but still deserving...then if u really want to go on sampling, get the whole **pay it all** back serie, started in 1984 with the first volume until nowadays...that's all !! enjoy !!
...sorry for my average english !! ;P

Re: On u Sound
There's so much good music on ON-U so it depends what your tastes are really. Many artists associated with On-U released their music through other labels, like Bim Sherman & Gary Clail, but for all intends and purposes these should really be considered as ON-U.
Prince Far I - Dub To Africa
African Head Charge - Songs Of Praise
Bim Sherman - It Must Be A Dream
Bim Sherman - Miracle
The Justice League Of Zion - Discoverers (Parts 1 & 2)
Gary Clail - Dreamstealers
Gary Clail - Emotional Hooligan
Dub Syndicate - Murder Tone
Dub Syndicate - Echomania
- in fact, any release by Dub Syndicate!
Audio Active - Tokyo Space Cowboys
Little Axe - Slow Fuse / Fusion
Akabu - Warrior Queen
Revolutionary Dub Warriors - 2 albums well worth checking out.
The whole 'Pay It All Back' series, as mentioned previously
Also mentioned previously is the 'Strange Parcels - Disconnection' album which is well worth checking if you can grab it. A 2 CD compilation of Skip McDonald's work through this period is well overdue in my opinion.
ON-U is sitting on a whole host of unreleased recordings which will probable never see the light of day. There is a Bim Sherman bootleg about (the Miracle Demo Sessions), a pirate 2 CD compilation of Strange Parcels 10/12inch & other rare releases and a few other bits and bobs. Mr Sherwood recently announced that much of the back catalogue would be getting re-issued as part of a deal with another label but this seems to have fallen flat, as usual. He is a busy chappy after all.
A lot of the earlier 10/12inch releases are no longer available but you can get 'The Roots On-U Sound Disco Plates Collection 1 & 2' which will give you a pretty good sampling of some of these amazing earlier releases.
A later release which took about 20 years to be finalized ;o) is 'Charlie Eskimo Fox - Nottorius - Alter Riddim' which is well worth the wait. Check it out!

Re: On u Sound
Wow, don`t seem like 2 and half years ago that I posted this thread.
Many On U Sounds have passed through my hands since then, unfortunately most of which I have struggled to really enjoy.
I have found the recordings rather an aquired taste, nothing wrong with them but I guess I just prefer that more traditional reggae sound.
