New Lee Perry singles compilation 1974-1978

Trojan will release a 2-CD compilation of Lee Perry´s
jamaican singles productions from 1974 to 1978 this spring/summer.

The only really rare tracks seems to be the original Sipple Out Deh - Max Romeo,
and Home Guard - Mikey Dread.
Lots of great music, though!

Good Grief, they just keep recycling the same old stuff don’t they? I can’t se any tracks there that I haven’t owned for years on some other cd release, unless they are all dramatically different mixes or something

A True. When you know killer tracks like "Message to the nation" (Tony Fearon) are long waiting their reissue...

Besides the usual "previously unreleased on CD" tunes, it would be even greater to release some unheard material from the archives.

It's Trojan. The owners may change but the story remains the same.

What they should do, is release a 2CD Junior Murvin career overview - as a companion piece to their Police and Thieves 2CD reissue. There is probably 2CDs-worth of stuff in the archives that has *never* been re-released, ever.

Reason I say this is that they're owned by Island now - and Island don't seem to give a serious hoot about anyone except Marley and Murvin (well, because people buy their records in large numbers) anyway...

King Burnett/Upsetters - Babylon A Fall/Cripple Skank was on Trojan's 2003's release Lee Perry & Friends - Chapter 3:Live As One.

jj, if you have noticed almost all of the tunes have already been previously released by Trojan over the years.

10. Three Times Three – King Tubbys

The original backing track wasn't even recorded at the Ark. Also Max Romeo denies any Lee Perry involvement during recording. The only connection was that these were released on Upsetter 7" in 1975.
