LOL

Actualy I didn't want to be aggressive. I do apologise sincerly if this post was aggressive to ahwhoseh.

The point is that too much people judge the quality of there collections regarding rarity and LPs' prices. Just stupid IMO. I felt it was the same with ahwhoseh who insisted on this point.

Otherwise, jahnoimusic you should have spare info on this LP (if you have some) instead of telling us that you have the best collection (when you say: I have over 5,000 reggae releases many of which are original recordings from early to late 70`s). This "I have a killer collection" statement is also something I dislike. A kinda of "big dick contest" which is just stupid.

Wareika.

I have the 1978 Lion of Judah release with the brown cover. I don`t know if this was the original issue as I bought it second hand some years ago.

Many of the albums that I have were bought as new on their original release by my father who got me into reggae when I was still at school.

I inherited most of my collection from him when he died. That is where the worth of my collection comes from the fact that he loved them as much as me and they give me many fond memories.

I was not trying to be a "big dick" as you put it and I never said I had a killer collection (i`m sure there are many people with far better collections). To me the value in a record comes from the quality of the music and the pleasure and memories they provide which no amount of money could replace.

I was just saying that the music should be enjoyed for what it is rather than how rare it or how valuable it is. Reggae was created by the father for all to enjoy and not for financial gain.

Hi Wareika & Jahnoimusic.

Don`t get narked with each other, I think you are both trying to say the same thing in different ways.

I fully agree that to much emphasis is being put on the rarity / value of many old recordings. Of course the age of these recordings plus the limited pressing quantities will make these records rare and perhaps of a greater financial value.

I too have bought old albums in the past which have been expensive to buy and have not been of good enough quality to enjoy. To me this is money down the drain as the only reason for owning music is to listen and enjoy.

So come on no one wants to hear people boasting about how large their collection is or what it is worth.

I only collect CD`s these days and am more than happy to buy remastered reissues of old albums if it means I get to own and listed to music that I have been searching. This to me is the real worth and was the reason it was made in the first place.

The artists who recorded these wonderful reggae sounds probably made just enough money to survive and put food on the table. They all lead the hard life of the ghetto sufferer. I wonder how they would feel knowing that people are prepared to pay more money for one album than they would have earned in a year.

Lets all just enjoy the wonderful reggae music whatever format you own and keep the discussions interesting.

Respect to one and all.
