check out this mix from hiphop producer madlib, it's 79 minutes of all reggae and some rare stuff, you might have heard a mix he did for trojan records a few years back also called blunted in the bomb shelter.
i haven't given it a full listen yet but skimming it revealed a lot of tracks i don't know, so if you check out maybe we can all post the names of tracks we recognize

it's an amazing album. Madlibs knowledge of Jamaican music (along with jazz, electronica, hip hop, soul etc) is endless. he's a fantastic producer.
Blunted in the Bombshelter is another great Madlib album for reggae fans to check out.

Re: madlib-medecine show 4
I work at a record store and my co worker just brought this album to my attention. i was startled to see pictures in the cd booklet of the dub album covers he sampled.
i am afraid now that it opens a door for "new" record collectors and it will bump the price up on dub records and now these lp's will be harder to find.
Does anyone else feel this way?
hopefully im wrong.

i wouldn't worry about that at all. it's not Madlib's first album of this type, and despite his talent and critical acclaim, he's still very underground.
only a fraction of his fanbase is going to get excited over the release (most his fans like hip-hop/jazz) and only a very small fraction of that fraction will seek out more dub/reggae.
even if he does get another 500 people interested in 70's Jamaican music, i view it as a good thing.

I;ve heard a couple tracks from this album and was not too impressed. It seemed to me that he just made a compilation and didn't hear any difference then tracks released on Trojan. Sounds like a straight play compilation too me but haven heard the whole album. Does anyone know what he did to the tracks on this VA-Compilation?

i think there are minor differences in the mix, along with plenty of overdubs.
but the main appeal is having 80 minutes packed with 50+ different excellent Jamaican tunes. it's true Madlib is no Lee Perry, but there are some nice transitions to connect an already fantastic arrangement of songs, many of which I hadn't heard before.

Just ordered it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Really enjoying this.
Can anyone one tell me what the 2nd track is? (the track directly after **["Edward The Eight"](http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2 ... ight=36079)**).
Oh and it's also a pleasant change to hear a CD with a ton of wall-shaking bottom end. (tu)
