brixton riot never quiet
Hello all,
I have a recording of a song I call 'Brixton Riot Never Quiet'. It is truly brilliant. It's a DJ (unknown) singing over a dub rhythm (also unknown). I recorded it from DBC (Dread Broadcasting Corporation)in the early eighties. Your mission, should you decided to accept it, is to identify the rhythm, the band, and most importantly, what album it's from so that I can try and get hold of it. If you think you might be able to help, please email me at cgha@homechoice.co.uk and I will send you an MP3 of the song. Your Reward? I don't want to risk breaking any rules regarding copyright on Roots Archives, so I'll let you know if you email me.
Regards,
Kipper

I think that it is Roy Ranking & Raymond Naptali - Brixton incident. A killer song, but I don't know the name of the original riddim.

Re: brixton riot never quiet
Well a BIG thank you to Jozef and to Roberto for identifying this song: it is indeed 'Brixton Incident', by Raymond Naptali and Roy Rankin, the B side of 'New Cross Fire', released only on 12" on KG Imperial KG006. Now all I have to do is get a decent recording of it! If I could buy it I would, but I suspect this 12" is worth more than I can afford. So, if anyone out there is prepared to either copy their record for me, or trust me to loan it to me so that I can record it, I do actually have something reggae/dub related really worth trading, but I can't say what it is on this forum as I don't want to break any rules. If you have a copy of this record, please either email me or call 07714 2024120 and we can chat.
Thanks again, all.

Thanks again, all.

Re: brixton riot never quiet
I saw this 12" on ebay last week with "buy now" price tag. I put it in my watched items but it went away, too bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
Is this a Fatman prod or am I mixing it up with something else? Good luck with the search.

Re: brixton riot never quiet ridim
Hi Everyone,
I have a song I need to identify, and it's driving me bonkers! If you have been reading up to here, you will know that I have the name of a deejay version of the song, which is a great start! What I am trying to find out is the name of the ridim used, and what album its on. I have a 90 second MP3 file of the song. I would welcome anyone who is interested to email me and I will email the song to you by return. There will be a reward for the person who successfully identifies the song!
Go on, have a go!
Cheers, kipper.

Has anyone heard of or, better still, have in their record collection a record by Kenneth 'Country Boy' titled 'Brixton Riot'. One of the best songs describing Kenneth's experience of the riots of 1981.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who has this or knows where it can be found.
Ciao,
Anna

Prince Alla 'I Will Never Give It Up' is one vocal cut over this riddim - sure there are more.
