First of all nuff respect all Roots-Archives-Crew and forum members...you have some incredible infos here!

I just saw Sly and Robbie recently and I'm curious about their work: On wikipedia there's written they worked on about 200'000 tracks in their career and Im wondering what are you're favorite tunes by the Riddim Twins?

What about this crazy number, can this be true? 200'000 Tunes / 40 years in the business = 5000 tunes a year = about 13 tunes a day...and they the toured so much, I just think that's impossible...

Anyone saw once a list, with the songs they have been involved? (of course not complete, but it's kind of hard to find out, where they played on - on a lot of my reggae-cds or lps, there just credits for the whole LP but not for each track...)

it's not so hard to imagine the huge number of songs if you think off all the sessions they where involved in, and that a lot of those riddimtracks have been used over and over again

The Enforcers' "Pay Them" as backed by the Revolutionaries incorporates one of the heaviest reggae drum beats ever. The power of that tune is just overwhelming.

This one being more of a Sly & Robbie than Channel One production: "Fort Augustus" by Junior Delgado. I simply can't imagine the vibes that there must have been present in the seventies, when this tune was dropped for the first time in a dance, dubplate style. I have an odd recollection of reading somewhere that Jah Shaka was the first sound system to play out this tune to the people; would be nice if someone could confirm this.

Anyway, the work of these two men has been, and no doubt still is, pure quality. Even the tunes with lesser vibes are always top notch musical performances, at least when it comes down to the drum & bass. It's just that I can't help thinking of those two tunes every time the rhythm twins are mentioned; too heavy.

dont know if shaka was the first to play fort augustus out, but theres a nice little story on the musically mad film regarding this song.
ironworks dread says he was at a session by shaka and coxsone,and a third sound that had packed up already.
shaka had signed off his sound and was plugging out his amps, when coxsone played the newly released. fort augustus.
shaka plugged back in his amps and played 'kunta kinte' and tore down the place.
that the only story i know concerning the two.
regarding sly and robbie, i really like dennis browns revolution, and viceroys heart made of stone among others.
they are also the drum and bass on the 'one way' album by the maytones which is a personal favourite.

200,000 tunes is a crazy number. I can't imagine 200,000 compositions, but count different releases and mixes of the same song, "wrong" credits,... and you got it. In Congo Ashanti you got Sly and Santa as drummers, but Sly play one or two songs max.

Utterance from Black Uhuru is one of my personal favs...Revolution of Dennis Brown one of the biggest anthems in reggae music IMHO

I love "Tickle Me" by Thriller on Taxi 7" on their version of the "Everybody Rude Now" rhythm, purely drum and bass (no other instruments that I can hear in the mix though the version is credited to Sly, Robbie and the Gang). Agree about "Baltimore" as well, and a host of others!
