pfff for home use a belt will do fine
for professional use i would not recommend it since a belt has to be replaced when its shape changes (it has a tendency to stretch which will affect the speed (rpm)
hope this helps

I always preferred direct drive tables' resilience and mechanical silence... that was until I picked up a vintage Yamaha belt drive turntable for next to nothing, which I found to be much more musical and detailed than the Denon and Technics tables I'd been using previously. Of course nothing is absolute, and a lot of these things depend on what you're pairing the equipment with, but I'd definitely recommend a good Yamaha belt drive now!
Anyway, happy listening!
