It's made quite a splash on eBay today (US$787)
Can anyone tell me about the rare *Stepping Tiger* on the Rite Sound label?

It looks like a handful have been auctioned in the past years, but this copy yesterday fetched the highest price by far

Dudley do you know anything about the Rite Sound label? There's a few 12's and 7's that have an address on the Leyton High Road, but not much production infos.

According to the liner notes on the LP, Blackbeard (Roy Sinclair) owned the Rite Sound record shop on the Leyton High Road.

There's also a Canadian division of Rite Sound (Jackie owned?)Jahson wrote:It looks like a handful have been auctioned in the past years, but this copy yesterday fetched the highest price by far

Re: Jackie Mittoo - Stepping Tiger
This is probably Jackie's rarest album. Released in tiny numbers, with no artwork, as a private project of Jackie's. The album contains (as many do) tunes from various sessions but all mixed specially for this release in a dense, dubby style. There's not much information available on the LP itself, although one track made it out on a US 12inch on the Nefertiti label ('Ayatollah' or aka 'Russian Satelite') with 'Mash Down Babylon' on the flipside. Production credits are limited to what's on the label 'Jackie Mittoo'.
Rare and great album!

ras andejo quotes the sleeve notes from the 'more-or-less-bootleg' CD that some Dutch made of this album in 2003.
A beautiful package anyway adding some great 12"s from Jackie to the original album.
The CD appears on earbuy every now and then and normally goes unnoticed for little money
