Re: Favourite YouTube Videos
Not sure what you'll think of this one. It's a new cover of 'Buffalo Soldier' by Jamblin vs Ripper.

They're also running a competition on Twitter at the moment (http://twitter.com/JamblinRipperBS) to promote the single.

Would have been nice if it was done with a Bob marley sample. This is more like a remake/remix.buffalo soldier wrote:Not sure what you'll think of this one. It's a new cover of 'Buffalo Soldier' by Jamblin vs Ripper.
Not my thing really.

Re: Favourite YouTube Videos
I agree that it would have been good to have an original sample. As a remix though, I think sometimes the crossover between genres can be interesting and spread the appeal of one style of music amongst a different group that doesn't normally take an interest in it. Like, this kind of remix by Jamblin vs Ripper would be played in a club that wouldn't normally have a reggae influence and so it brings in some variety and might expand the types of music that people there take an interest in. What do you think? Or does something like this just dilute the power of a track and make it less appealing to both camps instead of opening up the horizons of both?Roots Archives wrote:

Not very creative or Original. Its one thing to remix or get a chance to mix or dub out an actual Bob Marley or original 70's 80's reggae/roots/dancehall from its original studio recordings tracks but to cover a very popular Bob Song and try and make it your own and when you create a sound that has no connection to a traditional roots-reggae sound it would be hard to call that song reggae or original. Its like dub-step I get the idea but the trance side incorporated with reggae is not my thing... Ganster Hip-hop-reggae/reggaetone from Jamaica not my thing.... Blessings to all artists and positive music!

Buffalo Soldier 9
Re: Favourite YouTube Videos Buffalo Soldiers
Keep telling that history:
Read the novel, Rescue at Pine Ridge, where Buffalo Bill Cody meets a Buffalo Soldier. A great story of black military history...the first generation of Buffalo Soldiers. Five stars Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the youtube trailer commercial...and visit the website http://www.rescueatpineridge.com
How do you keep a people down? ‘Never' let them 'know' their history.
The 7th Cavalry got their butts in a sling again after the Little Big Horn Massacre, fourteen years later, the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. If it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, there would of been a second massacre of the 7th Cavalry.
I know you’ll enjoy the novel. I wrote the story that embodied the Native Americans, Outlaws and African-American/Black soldiers, from the south to the north, in the days of the Native American Wars with the approaching United States of America. This story is about, brutality, compassion, reprisal, bravery, heroism and gallantry. The story shows the truism to the fullest of a PG-14 perspective...with a DVD release to show the fullest reality of war. Read the novel, Rescue at Pine Ridge, the story of the rescue of the famed 7th Cavalry by the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers.
Also the novel was taken from my mini-series movie of the same title, “RaPR” to keep my story alive. Hollywood has had a lot of strikes and doesn’t like telling our stories…its been “his-story” of history all along…until now. The movie so far has attached, Bill Duke directing, Hill Harper, Glynn Turman and a host of other major actors in which we are in talks with…see imdb.com at; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0925633/
When you get a chance, also please visit our Alpha Wolf Production website at; http://www.alphawolfprods.com and see our other productions, like Stagecoach Mary, the first Black Woman to deliver mail for Wells Fargo in Montana, in the 1890's, “spread the word”.
Peace.
