blessup mentioned it already. The 'Stepping Tiger' album is made available again from Japan. No CDR! Great crystal-clear sound, but without the extra 12"s from the dutch reissue.
PLUS you can get your hands on the even rarer 'The Money Makers' by Jackie. What a bargain!
Available from Dub Store Records, Japan and some mailordershops too.

I`m sure I had "Money Makers" on vinyl many years ago. I used to buy a lot of jazz albums from a guy called Paul Murphy who used to own a little jazz outlet in the basement of a shop down in Berwick Street market.Bellyman wrote: PLUS you can get your hands on the even rarer 'The Money Makers' by Jackie. He also used to DJ at The Horseshoe and the Jazzroom at Electric ballroom.
He specialised in obscure 60`s and 70`s jazz and other similar types of rarities which he played in clubs and sold in his shop and I remember picking up a couple of reggae albums that he was selling.
One was "Creation" by Lennie Hibbert, the track "Soul Shack" was a massive floor filler for the jazz dancers.
The other album i`m sure was Jackie Mittoo "Money Maker". It was an album that never really appealed and i`m sure its the one I passed on to another guy about 3 weeks after I bought it.

Big up Bellyman, I've just ordered both albums. Can't wait to hear them on my sound systemBellyman wrote:blessup mentioned it already. The 'Stepping Tiger' album is made available again from Japan. No CDR! Great crystal-clear sound, but without the extra 12"s from the dutch reissue.

Your [probably thinking of I'm and dave's Money Maker LP which is more JAzz dance. Jakcie's Money Maker CDN pricate press LP is more on the slow funk angle of things and can't see this being played out at anything other than a hip hop or striclty reggae night.Rootsman wrote:Bellyman wrote :

'Money Maker' by Im and Dave on Studio One is another instrumental classic and I really don't think that the horns make it jazzy, that one is roots ina Studio One style.jordandance wrote:

'The Money Makers' in question by Jackie Mittoo is the same premier league for my money. Only one track ('Sweet Music Sweet') has a bit of disco/funk on it. All the basic tracks are Studio One recorded! My guess is that Jackie took the tapes with him to Canada and finished them by overdubbing keyboards and the female choir on some tracks. Overall sound is very close to 'Macka Fat' or the later 'Showcase'. This album is a classic in its own right.
