Joe Gibbs - dreadlocks girl/let me love you

this a Joe Gibbs production as well:

dreadlocks girl could have been some experiental thing or made by someone else but credited to Gibbs. Or the bare riddim was made by joe gibbs but remixed/recut by someone else (sammy dread himself for example )

could it be Sly and Robbie getting more involved about this time.african dub chapter 5 sounds pure sly and Robbie.

yeh Im aware of the old time productions on joe gibbs like your link or errol dunkley 45s, but Im talking about 70s straight when joe gibbs riddims have been slow and played in a strange way klike dem do it for charity, dreadlcks girl riddim instead sounds like a channel one recordingskylarker78 wrote:this a Joe Gibbs production as well:

the proffesionals mainly used lloyd parks on bass.later Joe gibbs used Llloyd park we people band, but if they were busy ie touring with dennis brown he probably used Sly and robbie Etc who seemed to take over arranging.also Dennis brown released a few self productions on joe gibbs.often recorded else where.
out of interest Sly dunbar seemed to join Joe gibbs about the time of State of enmergency lp.so was on african dub 3 and 4 that is why 3 and four sound so different form 1 and 2, which was basicaly the soul syndicate.
check out Prince Douglas
Dub Roots
on Wackies "Many of the rhythms are derived from a tape given to the studio by Sly and Robbie, containing their versions of recent Joe Gibbs hits"

Re: Joe Gibbs - dreadlocks girl/let me love you
i got that info from, the cd inf on Honest jons but i have read it before.........i think it is likely that they remade the rythmms from Sly and robbies tape.their is also a steel pulse track on their.on point of interst i Azul hunt recorded alot with bullwakies he also worked at Joe gibbs at times helping on production it seems even when joe gibbs and errol were a team they still hade others doing stuff ie Ossie hibbert and ENOS MCLOUD..so this is why some tracks have a different feel about them.
Nick.i hopeyou get the drift of my ramblings

I think that was the trend for music released during the same time period as Dreadlocks Girl. For example, these are all Joe Gibbs productions from the early 80's (at least my copies of these tunes credit Joe Gibbs and the Professionals):reggae_ragga wrote:why does this riddim selection sound so different from other Joe Gibbs recordings?
Dennis Brown ~ "Your Love Gotta Hold on Me"

Barry Brown ~ "Dem a Fight"

Danny Mangaroo ~ "Love Pot" (same riddim referred to in original post)

Echo Minott ~ "Love Problems"
