I'm a bit confused when it comes to this documentary...sometimes people talk about 6 different episodes; however, all I can find are 3 DVDs - does that mean that the orignal 6 episodes were put onto 3 DVDs?

Are the recent DVDs better quality than the versions that have been on p2p networks?

Yes, much better.... but i'm sure the latest dvd releases are now on P2P also. The old versions tended to have time codes or poor quality, the new ones are master copies from original.
Howard Johnson's(Director) back catalogue of films is slowly being released on dvd.
