The meaning of Dispensation

I've heard the word Dispensation used in a number of roots reggae records, and was wondering what it meant.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it has a specific meaning in Rastafarian doctrine?

"to dispense" is to hand out/deliver/administer.

It is interesting to think "God" is working to a plan and is conducting business to a schedule !

Vedic literature ( Hindu ) also speaks about periods called YUGA. These YUGA last for very long and specific periods and are cyclical. At present we are in the KALI YUGA which is recognized by Corruption, Greed, etc.
It is a very bad period and will not end soon.

All we can look forward to is being born into a better period in another life.
That is if we don't reach the ultimate goal of returning to the source, GODHEAD,
and escape the cycle of rebirth.

It's this that confuses me. I get the sense in roots that Babylon is somehow entitled to, or has been handed its power; but there is about to be some kind of intervention that will turn the tables.

It goes against the assertion that God helps the man that helps himself.
