I bought a beautiful copy of the legendary »Dub from the Roots« album by Tubby. I'm a bit curious though about the pressing since it's on *Clocktower*. There's no information on this issue at R-A and I can't find any other info. It looks like it's not a recent press from the label and sleeve. Generally it looks to be identical with the *Total Sounds* issue from '74. The seller however wrote it was from 1975 but there's no year on the cover art or label indicating that it actually is so.
The matrix numbers are CT0091-A and CT0091-B respectively. The label art is similar to the one beneath. I.e. it has the silhouette of a Clocktower with that coal dusty pattern on the paper instead of a clean blank label. The main difference is that it's brownish yellow colour on the text. It also says that the distributor is *Brads Records Bronx*.

Am I right in thinking this could be the American original issue? Is it a slightly later US press perhaps even?

Re: Dub From the Roots -- Clocktower Press
I have this same issue and always thought of it as the original U.S. press, or at least an early issue. Clocktower reissued the Roots of Dub set in the 90s but if I recall Dub from the Roots was released as this (with track titles changed)

One question kalcidis...does your sleeve say 'Dub From The Roots'? I ask because mine does not, the area under the pic of Tubby is blank. Nor does it say it on the label save for the track titled that. From what I can tell, all the other issues are different in this way. Hmmmmm

You're right! There's no text beneath ol' Tubbs! I didn't notice that! :O

Yes! This issue should rightfully be called *King Tubby The Dubmaster* (tu)

Re: Dub From the Roots -- Clocktower Press
Hi,
Got the same press. I always regarded it as the original Clocktower pressing. Based on the matrixnumber I would say it is released around 1977 see RA 1977 - #CTLP 0085 and also 1977 - #CTLP 0100. This matrixnumber is #LPCT 0091. Futhermore the label seems to have two telephonenumbers. One that appears on latter CT releases and one that appears on earlier CT release. That tel number changes around 1977/78 for as far as I can see. But to know certain I need to see more original CT pressings and read some books. But there are New York people here at RA who shopped at his store at the time. They should be able to tell more (about the change of the tel number).
Best Regards
