I am tired of seeing posts on Roots Archive talking about how real instrumental reggae is gone, as if reggae musicians put down their instruments and resort only to the computer.
The future of Reggae music is strong as ever. It is a world wide thing. Below are a dozen bands that i can think of off the top of my head that are keeping the roots tradition alive.
John Browns Body, Groundation, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Midnite, Katchafire, Black Seeds, Tubby Love, Thunderbody, 10 ft Ganja Plant, Cultura Prophetica, Spiritual Rez, Dub Apocolypse.
also this: heavy instrumental dub.

I really like some of those bands, but none of them make true 70's roots. their music is more pop oriented and/or totally electronic, like Midnite. the vocals are off, there's guitar solos, moogs, etc.
Clinton Fearon is a better example of someone keeping roots alive.

I really enjoy some of that stuff released in the US. Like that 7" with Jah Faith - Bun A One. Incredibly nice vibes and sound on that recording.
