The Previous Big Joe song before Midnight Rock is also a dubplate exclusively made for Jack Ruby Sound.

Im unsure. There is so much about these two songs its ridiculous. I dont understand why there isnt any specific understanding of the music in this movie. It frustrates me that the shit has to be a mystery. Why wouldnt the director or producer properly credit the music in the movie. How hard it is to find out what songs are what. There is way to much confusion about this. The first song at 2 mins in the video above is still unknown. Everyone says its midnight rock, but some say midnight rock is the second song at 3:10. So i dont know. Im on the verge of giving up because this is just ridiculous.

From chapter search it starts at 'Midnight Rock - Big Joe & Jah Thomas'.This is also my most favourite in the movie. It sometimes pains me when Horsey comes in to replace with his LP.That was pure DJ roots tune.jahsteppa wrote:The tune I like from Rockers is the one at the start of Jack Rubys dance, just before Horsey gives Jack Ruby the disc to play........Big Joe is toasting over this HARD HARD steppers dub....
Big Joe had Microphone in his hand, was he taosting live?

OK kandi, glad to know someone else knows good tune when they hear one! Yes i agree with u, its the best piece of music in the movie.
And yeah, horsemouth kinda kills the vibe when he comes in demanding Jack Ruby to play the next disc. The movie producers (or Jack Ruby) should have defffo let the Midnight Rock tune play for much longer as its the best tune in the film. You can see how that dance is ROCKIN HARD!! That tune is pure 1977 steppers reggae and ive never heard it anywhere else, since i first watched Rockers in 1992...(late learner, I know).
I guess that Jah Thomas named his record label after this tune then???
Oh yes kandi, Big Joe is the man with mic in hand but im unsure if he was toasting that tune live or not - in my opinion the vocal sounds like a studio recording, it sounds quite in line with the music.....

And I havent even tried hunting that tune down, it was one of them mystery tunes that u just have to sometimes accept as a mystery....And there are so many of them, TOO MANY cuts, versions, dubs, plates etc.....which imho adds to the excitement and mysticism that you can only associate with this wonderful music called REGGAE ROOTS ROCKERS!!!

Best tune for me is Fade Away ( and Book Of Rules)
I never cared if a tune is rare or easy to find!

Some records you're just never gonna find.
Some you'll find everywehere.
Some of the best tunes just turn up out of the blue and totally surprise you, but i guess u hav got more chance of pickin up killer stuff if youre lookin in the right places.......
Like if I mentioned a label like, for example, Tom Tom,
how many ppl are really going to reply to this post??
(Sorry for straying off-subject)
I guess what im tryin 2 say is: If ur not really searching for the music, then u limit yourself in terms of the quality your gonna get.
Haile I
