It's because the mastering engineer (the famous Tom Moulton) who could dig into the Studio One vaults tried on some songs to put together the two master tapes, the one with the vocals (full riddim + vocals, on 2 tracks) and the one that had only the original riddim on it (also on 2 tracks). It is very difficult to synchronize two different tapes with the same music... The resulting mix of the two tapes was some sort of stereophonic...jb welda wrote:(...) and also the mastering seems to sound out of phase or something...kinda funny.
It's particularly noticeable on the Heptones' "In Love With You" LP.
