I,for one, have always been fascinated by his voice. How i wish he had done some 'roots'.All said,'Youthman skanking' is a superb LP.

Agreed, guess he was just born too late

I also wish he'd been more prolific as a singer

Isn't Youthman Skanking roots though? Some rather cultural themes on that one. You're thinking roots on rockers rhythms rather than rub-a-dub style?

Yea your right it is more roots really than anything else, come to think of it so was his other album... Something about Sowetto I forget the name, but his singing is not a mature and confident on that as it became later on.

Anyone heard this re-press and know what the quality is like? My version of this album is as muddy as hell, I'd love to have a better quality version. Anyone know where you can get the re-press. I didn't get much luck googling it this morning

Great news. Great riddims on this album. I have this album on mp3 and have been listening to it quite a bit lately. The copy I have, and from what I've read about others, had some pressing issues and jumps through some of the first few tracks. Hopefully that will be taken care of on this pressing.
Any idea on when this should be getting released?

Roots as differentiated from Dancehall.I am talking of 'Album style' just like the way RA categorises albums.

I've never really seen the point of those categories. I understand that they try to make some order in reggae but roots and dancehall are quite difficult to define or separate as they more than often go in to each other as one doesn't necessarily out-rule the other.

Got the LP today and it was absolutely beautiful done. Good quality, nice sounding pressing. There's nothing but good things to say about it - manufacturing and music wise. The reissue of the year for sure!!

Bought my copy from Reggae Fever in Switzerland.
