carlton livingston - trodding through the jungle LP

Post by davecosca »

I've got two different copy of this great album.
The first one is this: http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1181
The second one has a few differences:
1 - label is Dynamite
2 - the side A track n°5 (walk with love) is missing
3 - arranged and produced by clive jarrett + lone ranger
(the sonic one by clive jarrett + carlton livingston)
Is there anyone who knows which copy is older or the more valued one?

I think that they are from roughly the same time. The Sonic Sounds being JA release and the Dynamite being US released though.

I've got it on Dynamite (and I just to have the Sonic Sounds reissue). Can't for the life of me remember how the missing song sounded though. Will have to check with my mate who had my other copy.

Carlton told me the original release is the Dynamite one.
The missing track is a combo with Lone Ranger on "Taxi Riddim".

Dynamite was the label created by the late Clive Jarrett, a childhood friend of Robbie Shakespeare's.

I released 3 albums on Tabou1 that Clive had licensed me, including Carlton's album. Clive wanted me to rename the Carlton Livingston album Rumours, after the track of the same name. At the time he didnt have clean copies of the original artwork, so we went for a totally different look. Wicked album by a great singer, with whom I've recently recorded a new track called "Faith", which I need to mix and put out.

With Clive, I also released a Dynamite-produced Leroy Smart album and a various artists compilation that kicked ass.

Hmmm I always thought it was a reissue of his Bebo's album. Because the tracklisting only somewhat overlaps with his Dynamite LP?

I dealt with Clive.

Clive and Bebo did a lot of stuff together and were close.

I honestly dont remember the tracklist of the Carlton album I put out. But I do remember that it had Troddin thru the jungle, Dont Follow Rumors, etc...

Is it the orange cover to rumors? I got that one on Amazon, what are the titles of the other albums you put out, the one with Mr Smart?

Both Leroy and Carlton are two of my favorite singers

Asking a lot? I don't get it.

I have seen that album before but I thought it was a modern album so I ignored it. When was it recorded?

I've added that to my want list

your rumors release was the first Carlton Livingston album I bought, I loved it.

I think I might get that Leroy Smart one tomorrow.

So are you behind the Mideya / IODA label?
