Great set of albums. I've never had the joy to find the Dub Conference at 10 Downing Street but always been very curious about it. The Tubby sets have always been available in one form or another from what I've understood. Even the Bovell was reissued some time in the 90's so I guess that the real rarity of the set is the Natty Locks Dub which is a wonderful set.

Is the mastering good on these CD's? Could be wortwhile to get them so I don't have to listen to low bitrate rips every time I can't reach for record at home.

I was actually only wondering today if the Evolution Of Dub series was finished now... :)

'Surrounded By The Dreads At The National Arena' and 'Dub Conference At 10 Downing Street' are two albums that I've wanted to hear for a long time.

I've seen them as mp3 on fileshare services (is it wrong to talk about downloading things that have been OOP for 30 years?) before but upon playing the first track, the rip quality has always sounded like utter garbage, even allowing for the fact that it's a vinyl rip, or there have been songs missing (please, people - don't share incomplete albums) - and I won't listen to music that way, lest it be ruined for me.

Its nice to see them put out a collection of Winston Edwards produced dub albums.

Its a pity they couldn`t have left out "King Tubby Meets The Upsetter at the Grass Roots of Dub" which has already been issued on CD by both Jet Star and Studio 16 and instead include "The Workers Speak to Their Slave Masters With Strike" which is a great instru-dub album and well worthy of a CD release.

But then thats just me being picky as this will be a great release as the included albums are all excellent in their own right.

For sure the "Evolution of Dub" series has been a great way off picking up some excellent dub albums at bargain prices :)

Re: "King Tubby Meets The Upsetter at the Grass Roots of Dub" - I'd seen that around before, but for some reason, I thought that it was another one of those cheap and nasty 90s/00s-era 'dubious dub' CD compilations.

Too cynical for my own good, maybe?

Amen. Been after that Strike album for so long it's ridiculous. Everything is great about it even down to its socialist context. :D

You are not wrong, I have a rip of this which I got from a friend a long time ago. Have had my fingers crossed it would get a proper release one day. Perhaps with this latest instalement of "Evolution of Dub" we have taken a step in the right direction :)

Well according to amazon.de they picked at the grassroots for the vinyl release, a pity, as it has been available over the years.
