dobby donson & a mystery deejay

Post by Paul Rootsical »

Greetings all. Can anyone help? I have a Circle 12'' credited to Dobby Dobson - Why Do Fools fall In Love CS001. Its a full discomix running into a deejay cut. I just can't work out who that is. I date it at around 1982-83. He voices like Ranking Dread, Errol Shorter or Lone Ranger, oink - right!, or could it even be U Brown?? Nothing about this tune on Google. Anyone know it?

It's not Ranking Dread, Errol Shorter or Lone Ranger. At points he does sound exactly as Ranking Joe but I lose the connection to his voice when he's in the middle of the verses. When he does the fast talk parts and some of Ranking Joe's trademark interjections I could almost swear it's him.

I would guess it's minor known deejay who modelled himself on other deejays with Ranking Joe being his main inspiration :)

thanks for that. I did think of Ranking Joe initially but when I ran a voice comparison off other tracks I wasn't so sure either. The man can chat whoever he is... Max respect
