T and A

Post by jamjam »

Digressing slightly...
Always wondered what happened to the women that graced the album covers (scantily clad/bare breasted/totally starkers) of the Trojan Tighten Up Volume compilations?
Assuming this was a marketing ploy to sell more records, and am sure to great success.
These women are like unsung heroes, who have sunk without trace.
Would be nice to see some type of documentary on them, and find out how they were coerced into posing in such a fashion.
Also wondered if they received any type of sales royalties for their artistic endeavours??

Just been reading the " Young , Gifted and Black " book about the history of Trojan Records and , apparently , the ladies mentioned were professional models.

The girl on volume 7 is my favorite by a country mile, she could tighten up for me any day

I remember most of the tracks on those albums were for 'mass' market and some a little run of the mill, but the album artworks were always winners!
Even in those days that would have been considered more than risque, so big up to who ever thought of the idea and a special big up to the models. Real heavy duty business.
