Wailing Souls-Mass Charley Ground meaning

In the song Mass Charley Ground the Wailing Souls sing something about mass charley ground then from then on I understand the "long time we no have no fun". I'm just wondering what the first line means exactly. They use a lot of local references about the waterhouse district of kingston in songs and I love all of their music and am interested in knowing all of what they are singing about. If anyone knows please share. Also just a good song to listen to in general! peace

Charley = the Massa's name

Ground = land/estate/property
