Glory, Power, Dominion, Majesty

Post by Rootsman »

Hi,

One of my favorite albums which I have on CD and play quite often is "Glory, Power, Dominion, Majesty" and is credited to Oswald Creary as producer.

The CD Which I have (which is on the PK9 label and not on Honest Jons label as listed on this site) has no liner notes whatsoever.

Some of the music on this release imo is excellent, but when you look at the list of artists who appear some are fairly obscure ie, Rothadam, OJ, The Blenders. These artists don`t seem to be listed anywhere else on this site but the 3 tracks they do on this release are sublime.

Can anyone tell me a bit more about these artists and the producer.

Thanks and Respect

Dave

Dave,

I'll have you know that just about the just about every song title on those Lp's are wrong. Ossie Creary, the producer and mind behind Half Moon/Super 8 worked as a labourer at a furniture company to finance his studio. I'd say he did a good job. Most of the players came from the wealth of Jamaican musicians that moved herein waves to Toronto, Ontario, Canada starting in the early 60's. Quite a solid chap if you ever met him.

I still can't believe he hasn't released that BArry Brown stuff he has in the studio. IT's fire!

This song and the accompanying Augustus Pablo Dub (yeah, he spent some time hanging in my town too) are amongst the best tunes of any genre I've
heard.

K in Canada.

P.S. He also did mixing for other Toronto studios at the time. This Johnnie Osbourne tuen is ridiclulous

Hi Soufriere1,

I did not know that, can I assume then that the likes of Rothadam, OJ, The Blenders are possibly well known jamaican artists using a psuedonyn.

The Rothadam track "Sampson" I really like and i`m sure I recognise the artists voice. Is there any chance you could identify him.

Also, as you say, if the song titles on this release are wrong, do you know what the original titles of the tracks are ?

Thanks

Repect

They're the correct titles to the songs - just most of them don't correspond to the proper track. Most were JAex-pats living here in Toronto. Rthadam has a couple other releases on Half Moon - think I have some around here.
