TommyMcCook "Reggae In Jazz" on Pressure Sounds

Post by Rootsman »

Looks like this excellent set is the next pressure sounds release

[cover=5285,2934]

This is a great LP, I cannot wait to pick up this one.

Anorak Trev, you will love this one too, its even got some of that cheesy organ sound you love ;)

I once heard a sort of vocal version of grass root. Anyone know if this was ever released. Could be something home made, but it sounded very bad.. A gospel preacher 'chanting' over the track.

Every sound sample I've heard on the web of this sounds really distorted on the highs.... especially on tracks 5 & 6 side one, anybody else who has bought this know what I mean??

Based on the thread on blood n fire seems as though this PS release may indeed have some mastering issues. Made me think twice about buying it..... Any thoughts?

From memory the quality of the original album was not the best. But as I said previously the CD is, imo, well worth the purchase. £9.00 + P&P is a steal these days.

So support the cause and go buy it, look past the occasional inferior sound quality and enjoy the CD for what it is. Excellent music made by great musicians from an era superior the anything that has come along since.

Fair point, I want to listen to the sound clips before I judge, after all you can buy an LP and the quality can be rough and scratchy

Edit: I do like supporting labels with new releases too

I'll pass on this one (which is very rare for me). Too many other good sounding albums out there for me to spend my hard earned shekels on rather than buying something i'll never want to listen to because of the terrible sound quality.

Hi,
I was listening it in flac and didn't sound good as expected. As some of you experienced the high ranges in some tracks aren't clean.
Despite its curio the tracks as well aren't special for me, of course its a matter of taste.....
