check this one out

Post by benjamin »

sorry to spend my time boring you with myspace, but it is such a great way to discover unkown artists.
Please, just check out Upright and tell me what you think about "Israelites" song, I think it's wicked (the other one is also great)

Please also note that we don't plan to cover reggae areas other than 1970-85.

the policy to stick to 70-85 is a good one, because they are the golden years of reggae music.

Still it didn't cause any trouble when we discussed modern roots, bands like midnite, or else, or even more recently when we discussed the roots bands in our contries, so what is that sudain date rigidity? If the policy was not 70/80 I would not be there either, but I consider that the 70/80' inspired sounds can be shared here too. And to come back to the subject, if you close your eyes and listen to those tunes, you are back in early 80. Sorry for the extremists of dates.

Sounds like a bunch of guys from California to me. If you are ok with that, then they are pretty good. Just not my personal style. Too much real, wicked, Jamaican stuff out there to listen to.

I guess the 'forum/discussion guidelines' never did specify that the discussions had to be centered on those years.

My apologies...

There are obvious exceptions to their own timeline:

Norris Reid 'Root & Vine' 1988
Augustus Pablo 'Rockers Come East' 1987
Yellowman 'Going to the Chapel' 1986
And many others...

Myspace bands though....I don't know.
