Wow! Sound quality amazing! right from the master tape.."roaring lion/pride", "loco negril" are two unheard black ark tracks..as in the riddims have never been released...great job pressure sounds! couldn't be happier!

I believe Perry was wearing a cheap Vans casual on his left foot when he recorded these tunes, on his right foot was a Nike, also made in China size 11 I believe.

Yes, very good compilation except maybe the Althea & Donna vocal on track Loco Negril. That vocal just doesn't fit on the music somehow, and their singing is very boring.

There is already another thread on this topic.
Anyway, got my copy yesterday and listen all 4 sides. As a Perry fan I'm always happy getting new stuff to listen, but still I think this is an outstanding issue. Hope there is more and more and more to come ..... :-))

The first time through the Althea and Donna was the one I was most excited about!! Muddy I don't care about, and there is nothing boring about the mix. And I think the bored vocals sound cool in combination with the wild backing track.

But, my question is: what is the original vocal tune to Rocky Road Dub? The one that goes " although the road might be rocky, I'm moving on"

Also, I get really tired of the Black Ark hi hat sound. Am I the only one? Every tune has that same high pitch bell hi hat sound. It gets old and I fixate on it to where I just get sick of even listening to Black Ark era stuff. That must sound crazy to many of you. Oh well.

Great release, but "Beat Down Comrade Man" is NOT Junior Byles. Rather than being "a political tune in support of Michael Manley", it's obviously an anti-socialist tune that was done by someone else in support of the JLP and a parody of "Beat Down Babylon".

Yes, flashman, that Black Ark hi hat....you're not the only one. When I bought Arkology and listened to it end-to-end it did me in - "fixate" is exactly the word I'd use, too. I gave up listening to those LP productions for a couple of years, but eventually went back. Now I can usually put my "mental spotlight" on other aspects of the music.
